Amador Valley High Girls' Golf Team Finishes Fifth In State Championships

The girls golf squad used a team effort to place high in the championships held at the Pebble Beach golf course.

The girls' golf team at capped a successful season by placing fifth in the state championships this week.

The squad used a team effort to secure the fifth place finish at the Poppy Hills Golf Course at Pebble Beach in Monterey.

The Dons finished with a total of 420 points. Kelly Shotwell had the best score on the team in the state championships with an 82.

However, she was closely followed by a pack of teammates, including Natalie Bodnar and Kimberly Liu with 83's, Sierra Saucier with an 84 and Monique Riley an 88.

The team had already won the East Bay Athletic League title as well as the North Coast Sectionals championship. They placed second in the Northern California competition.
