Baseball Draft: Amador Valley High Grad Chosen By Cardinals

Infielder Stephen Piscotty is chosen in the first round by the St. Louis Cardinals

Stephen Piscotty has another title to add to his list of accomplishments -- first round draft pick.

The Amador Valley High School graduate was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday in the Major League Baseball draft.

Piscotty, now an infielder and pitcher for Stanford University, was selected 36th overall.

The 21-year-old Pleasanton native is listed on the Stanford baseball website as 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds. He bats right and throws right.

Piscotty was selected to the first team of the All-Pac 10 squad in 2011. He has a batting average of .336 with 12 homeruns in three seasons with the Cardinal. The team is now in the Super Regional in the NCAA playoffs.
