When you're being chased, it's been said you shouldn't look behind you, and when the Foothill High boys lacrosse team pulled out to a 3-0 lead over Acalanes in the first quarter, they never did.

The Falcons (17-4) stumped the Dons with aggressive play and tough defense, advancing to the North Coast Section semifinals for the first time in school history with a 10-6 victory on Friday.

"They're a very tough team, they have a lot of talent, especially on offense," Foothill coach Bob McManus said. "We got caught a man down a couple of times, they got good players, and made us pay for it."

The Dons (14-6) scored three goals in the fourth to close it to a three-point game late in the fourth quarter, but Colin Kacinski's goal with 1:48 left in the game sealed the victory.

Foothill goaltender Ben Krebs kept the Falcons on top through the first three quarters, allowing only three goals.

"I thought we played well. A couple of drops here and there but we played pretty good, they were a lot tougher than I expected," said Krebs. "The defense played as well you can ask them to play."

After leading 3-1 lead after one, Foothill extended its lead 6-1  in the second before the Dons cut the deficit to 7-3 at the half.

Gabe Garcia notched a pair of first half goals for the Falcons, and pushed it to 8-3 after three, shutting out Acalanes in the third quarter. Scott Wheaton scored the last two goals of the game to seal the victory for Foothill.

McManus however, credited Krebs with putting them over the top.

"Ben was outstanding," McManus said. "Had some great saves was also very good on the clear. We're very fortunate to have excellent goalies."

The Falcons will host the winner of Saturday's Amador Valley vs Monte Vista matchup in the NCS semis on Wednesday.
