After a dismal opening day of the Livermore Stampede tournament, Amador Valley High School responded with one of it's best wins of the season, a 3-2 victory over Pinole Valley at Robertson Park Friday.
The Don's No. 1 starter Haley Douglas deserves much of the credit. The senior didn't allow a hit until seventh inning and finished the game with four strikeouts and one walk.
Amador Valley (6-4) scored once in the fourth inning and twice in the fifth. Douglas, Britanna Bloom and Jess McKeehan each had an RBI in the win.
With the loss, Pinole Valley drops to 8-2
"We came out and hit and eventually we got some balls to fall," Amador Valley Coach Julie Marshall said.
The Dons finish in third place in Pool B and will compete for ninth place on Saturday. Amador Valley's first game is at 9 a.m. at Robertson Park.
