Girls Lax: Amador falls just short in battle of highly-ranked teams

Dons lose 9-8 to St. Ignatius of San Francisco.

In a non-league match that pair two of the state's best girls lacrosse teams, Amador Valley fell to St. Ignacius 9-8 at home on Monday.

In the latest rankings published on Monday, the Dons checked in at No. 9 in the state and S.I. at No.7.

Erin McGillivray scored three goals, while Amelia Major added two. Caroline Federighi stopped 17 shots in goal.

Amador will host Livermore on Tuesday before traveling to Carondelet on Friday, which is ranked No. 3 in the state behind No. 1 Los Alamitos and No. 2 Monte Vista.
