Giants or A’s? Or Both?

Heading into the post season both Bay Area teams are in the playoffs. Where are your loyalties?

Are you a National League or American League fan?  Do you bleed green and gold or orange and black?

With both Bay Area teams in the playoffs we may find out.

The Oakland Athletics and the San Francisco Giants both won their divisions and open their playoff series this weekend- the A’s against the Detroit Tigers and the Giants against the Cinncinatti Reds.

The teams have something in common this year besides geography-  they both have the same regular season record of 94 wins and 68 losses.

There is a historical similarity too.  The only time the A’s were alone in first place in their division this season was at the end of the last game of the season.  In 1951, Bobby Thompson’s homerun against the Brooklyn Dodgers came on the last day of the regular season in a game added as a tie-breaker.  That was the only time the Giants were alone in first place that year.

Both the 2012 A’s and the 1951 Giants teams came from 13 game back to make the playoffs.

Are you a Giants fan or an A’s fan?  If you are a Chicago Cubs fan, there's always next year.

Tell us in the comments why you root for one team or the other.

So true... but I am familiar with the "Hum-baby" phrase several times as a Giants fan -- at least from other Giants fans online.

I think the SF Giants won 2 WS titles when they were the NY Giants (baseball) and one more in SF, leaving them 3 WS titles. And hey Ann, I know you're quizzing me because you must be a TRUE A's fan who has a LOT OF baseball knowledge. They may have the best record in ALL of baseball, but we'll see if my Giants can top the Green & Gold if both teams can make it to this year's World Series. As for me, If I am not TOO busy from watching any baseball game, I can learn some stats in baseball and some history of the team during each of them although I could usually end up forgetting most of them. Do YOU learn them when you started loving to watch baseball on TV or at the ACTUAL ballpark? I don't go to ballparks, but I always watch games at home. But even though I may be wrong about the facts of the Giants, don't even try to be cocky of me being an UNTRUE Giants fan, especially from your fellow big-mouthed A's fans because you all are just scaring me and some other untrue Giants fans into giving up on cheering on my favorite baseball team. True or untrue fan, I will still be cheering on for the Giants until the end.
