How about the meds you got after that painful dental procedure?

You probably took two or three pills cautiously afterwards and left the other pills sitting there.   After all, you are aware of the dangers of these high powered meds.

You wouldn't keep moldy and rotten food in your refrigerator or pantry, so why would you keep long expired pills and medications in your medicine cabinet?

Kids are taking pills like candy.   They also love to use cold medications and cough syrups.   Just this week a report came out about the increase in adolescent illnesses involving drinking hand sanitizers.

Pills are toxic, addictive, and expensive.   Kids taking them can get very sick.   Kids abusing them can get addicted.   Some kids will even resort to selling your pills.

The most common classes of pills are opiates, benzodiazepines, amphetamines, and barbiturates. Among those classes are the common names Oxycontin, Xanax, Percocet, Valium, Ambien, Lunesta, and Adderall.

Cough syrups have been used by teens to make cocktails.  Either they mix the syrup with alcohol and a mixer, or they drink it straight from the bottle.

It takes very little time to round up old and unused medications.   This Saturday, there's an easy place to take them.  Numerous law enforcement agencies are partnering up to take part in the drug take back day.
