"Puss in Boots," the 2011 animated film of a sword-fighting cat, is showing Thursday evening at the Amador Valley Community Park.
The outdoor screening is part of the city's summer series, "Free Movies in the Park."
Patrons should bring blankets, low chairs and picnic dinners. The movie begins at dusk.
Seating will be cordoned off in sections with blanket seating in the front, low-back beach chairs in the center, and camp chairs and other higher positioned seating in the rear, to accommodate for the best viewing.
Organizers request no blankets or chairs are placed on the lawn area prior to 10 a.m.
, at 4301 Black Avenue, is a 23-acre park with picnic and barbeque facilities, two play structures, open space and ample parking.
The PG-rated "Puss in Boots" features voiceovers by stars Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, Zach Galifianakis, Billy Bob Thornton and Amy Sedaris.
Accompanied by sidekicks Humpty Dumpty and Kitty Softpaws, Puss is pitted against Jack and Jill, two murderous outlaws in ownership of legendary magical beans which lead to great fortune.
The film was an Oscar nominee for Best Animated Feature Film at the 84th Academy Awards.
After Thursday's showing, four films remain in the summer film program:
- "The Muppets" on July 26;
- "Cars 2" on August 2;
- "Hugo" on August 9;
- "The Adventures of Tintin" on August 16.
