The department covers nearly 47 square miles from Foothill Road in Pleasanton to the Altamont Pass.</p> <p>The department is comprised of 131 professional firefighters, fire inspectors and support staff. It has eight engine companies, two truck companies and 10 fire stations throughout Livermore and Pleasanton.</p> <p>The department's No. 6 station is home to the Centennial Bulb, the oldest working lightbulb in the world at 109 years old. </p>
