It's two main divisions are Operations and Investigations and Services. The department has 87 sworn-in officers and 35 auxiliary staff. The police department offers a number of services to the community. One program is the Citizen's Police Academy program, first held in 2000. The class has about 20 to 25 participants; many graduates become volunteers within the department.
It also offers the Crime-Free Multi-Housing program, which was developed to make rental properties safe. The police department has a Youth and Community Services Unit, which includes D.A.R.E. officers, school resource officers, crime prevention officer and community service officer.
