With its initial facility opening in Los Altos, California, in 1949, American Baptist Homes developed the idea for a continuing care retirement community offering multiple levels of living and assistance on one campus. American Baptist Homes operates 32 communities throughout the western United States, with its headquarters in Pleasanton.</p> <p>The organization, "as an expression of Christian mission, seeks to enhance the independence, well-being and security of older people through the provision of housing, health care and supportive services."
