The tennis duo—and twin brothers—are hoping to compete for gold at the London 2012 Olympic Games this summer.

BART to Open Early, Run Long Trains for Bay to Breakers

Beware of soggy tickets, transit agency cautions.

BART has announced longer trains and an early open time for this weekend's Bay to Breakers event in San Francisco. Service for the 101st Bay to Breakers race in San Francisco Sunday, May 20, will begin at roughly 5 a.m. at all BART stations; trains running before 8 a.m. will run at 20-minute intervals. Bikes won't be allowed in trains until after 8 a.m. Download the special train schedule for Bay to Breakers service. The world-famous race attracts thousands of runners and spectators from throughout the Bay Area. BART encourages riders coming from the East Bay to disembark at the Embarcadero Station, a short distance from Howard and Spear streets, where the race begins. BASEBALL: Amador Valley JV Beat Cal 7 - 6 on Wednesday

After the game, the players, coaches and fathers honored the Amador Mothers in attendance with a special Mother’s Day song and flowers to celebrate Mother’s Day Week.

By David Ott The Amador Valley Dons JV baseball team defeated the Cal High Grizzlies 7 - 6 on Wednesday, May 9 in EBAL action.  The Dons had excellent pitching from Donald Camello and Steve Nice went 4 – 4 with a 3 run home run and three singles to lead the Dons to victory. The game was a tale of two games.  It was all Dons early, and then the Grizzlies made it very interesting late. Dons pitcher Donald Camello retired the Grizzlies in order in the top of the first inning on just nine pitches.  In the bottom of the first inning the Dons bats were hot.  Parker Newman led off the game by hitting a slow ground ball to the shortstop, and with his blazing speed, Newman beat it out for an infield single.  Jack Moroney followed with a single to …

Dons Play With Passion in Victory Over Granada

Amador Valley High School Junior Varsity baseball team beat Granada High on Tuesday.

By Mike Zwingle The Amador Valley High School junior varsity baseball team played with purpose in a come-from-behind victory over Granada High School. The Dons, in a make-up game against Granada from the Dougherty Valley Easter Tournament, played with a “don’t give up attitude” and with a spark in their step. The Dons fell behind early as the leadoff batter hit a triple and the next batter walked, which led to the Don’s following behind 2-0 going into the bottom of the first. In the second and third innings, Tyler Staniford settled down and retired the side without giving up any more runs. In the fourth inning Will Pickett took the mound and gave up one unearned run as a result of a single, stolen base and error. In the fifth and sixth, …

BASEBALL: Dons Lose to SRV with Walk-off Heart Breaker

By Ron Dronkers San Ramon Valley HS - The Amador Valley High School Dons returned from Spring Break to face the San Ramon Valley Wolves at Rick Steen Varsity Field last Wednesday.  Despite a long, unexpected break from games and practice due to unrelenting rain storms up and down the coast, the Don's offense looked as if it hadn't missed a beat, plating 3 runs in the first inning. By Ron Dronkers Amador Valley High School Varsity Field - Spring weather finally decided to show itself with a beautiful and warm afternoon as the Dons hosted the Livermore High Cowboys.  JR/RHP Jake Dronkers had the starting role and retired the side on fly balls to left, center and right. The Dons scored first in the bottom of 2.  SR/OF Brett Kalepp swung and missed for a strike-out, but hustled to first base on the dropped ball by the catcher.  Kalepp then stole second with JR/OF Brendan Jenkins at the plate and scored on SO/INF Bradley Pluschkell's base hit to left field. Team Breezy the Winner in Cal-Stanford Soccer Game Brought People From Tri-Valley

Event organizers estimated about 3,500 people attended and more than $8,000 was raised for families affected by Osteosarcoma.

There was a soccer game Saturday afternoon at Dougherty Valley High. Stanford and Cal's women's soccer teams competed hard. The Cardinal nicked a goal and thousands of fans were entertained. But what made the warm spring day in San Ramon special was the community and it's support for three kids who are facing a difficult opponent — cancer. The exhibition soccer game was the highlight of an all-day event at Dougherty Valley to raise money for kids with Osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer. The event was organized by friends of the Bochenek family, whose 10-year-old daughter Brianne (who goes by "Breezy") was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma last fall. Since, she has gone through chemotherapy cycles and had her left leg amputated in her fight to …

Cal, Stanford Playing Charity Soccer Game Saturday for San Ramon Girl with Cancer

The charity game will take place at Dougherty Valley High School on April 21. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.

The University of California and Stanford are heated rivals in women's soccer, but later this month the two teams will come together in San Ramon for a cause more important than wins or losses. The two elite women's soccer college programs will play an exhibition game at Dougherty Valley High on April 21 at 5 p.m. Proceeds from the game will go to the family of 10-year-old Brianne “Breezy” Bochenek and other children who have been diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer. Bochenek, who was a competitive soccer player, was diagnosed with the cancer last fall and has since aggressively fought the cancer, with chemotherapy and support from family and the San Ramon community. Amador JV Baseball Team Beat the Castro Valley Trojans

The win was on Monday.

The Amador Valley Dons defeated the Castro Valley Trojans 7 - 1 on Monday, April 2 in a non league game.  The Dons had excellent pitching, explosive hitting and great defense.  Donald Camello pitched five solid innings giving up the one run, on five hits and one walk.  Will Picket and Tyler Staniford pitched one scoreless inning each to close out the game.  The offense was lead by Steven Nice, Max Molz, Jack Moroney, Alex Zwingle and Kyle Lawrence.   Steven Nice had two doubles and three RBI, while Max Molz also had two doubles, a walk, one RBI and score two runs. Jack Moroney had two singles and scored two runs, Alex Zwingle walked twice, was hit by a pitch and scored two runs, and Kyle Lawrence had a single and a RBI. The Dons had many …
