Unique Preschool Storytelling Camp Starts in October

Towne Center Books is hosting Hooray It's Thursday Camp.

Yo ho ho and shiver me timbers! Storytelling camp is coming to Towne Center Books.  From pirates to pumpkins, this locally owned bookstore will be celebrating fall and all of its treasure with their tiniest patrons. Certified preschool teacher Judy Fenton will be hosting Hooray It's Thursday Camp, a one-hour interactive storytelling class on select Thursday mornings at 9am. The class is geared for children ages 3 to 5. “This will be a hands-on, interactive experience for the kids,” said Judy.  “Activities and crafts will coincide with the selected story of the day.” Hooray It’s Thursday Camp will focus on learning readiness skills though interactive stories, art and songs.   Art activities will include bringing items from home such as fall…

Pleasanton artist captures hometown images in pastels

Debbie Wardrope offers a glimpse into her technique in upcoming pastels class at Studio 7 Fine Art Gallery

A Pleasanton resident since she was a young girl, Debbie Wardrope is the definition of homegrown talent. "My parents occasionally bought fine art pieces to hang in our home. I grew up believing that fine art was a possible direction for me because I saw my parents supporting other artists," Wardrope said. After earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Illustration from California College of the Arts in Oakland, Debbie started a career in the mortgage banking industry, while painting on the side. "When I had children, it was actually my husband that encouraged me to pursue my art," Wardrope said.
