Fairgoers seeking a respite from the flurry of fair festivities can stop in for a nosh at the new Gastro Pub. The pub is replacing the Palm Pavilion, according to Angel Moore of the Alameda County Fair.

The Gastro Pub is the creation of Ovations Catering. Owner Nick Nicora says the restaurant has 18 different varieties of Sierra Nevada beers on tap and wines from Wente Vineyards in Livermore.

"This space was created to be an environment people can relax in," Nicora said.

The Gastro Pub offers more than just pub grub. The pub has a dining area and a cocktail lounge and offers menu items created from food brought in from NorCal sources. A map posted inside shows each of the Northern California cities where the menu items come from.

Savory options include the Pleasanton Burger, pork sliders, ribs, fish and chips, heirloom Caprese salad, along with appetizer options like risotto-stuffed roasted fresh artichoke and Gastro Pub Super Nachos.
