Riders Rescued After Fair Ride Malfunctions

No one was injured, fair officials say.

Riders on the "Zillerator" fair ride Friday night  had to be rescued after the ride broke down. The ride came to a stop in an upright position, according to Angel Moore of the  Alameda County Fair. Riders were stuck on the ride and the fire department was called to help.

According to Aisha Knowles of the Alameda County Fire Department, fire personnel assisted in the rescue and no injuries were reported.

"A safety mechanism on a ride released and did exactly what it is supposed to do," Angel Moore of the Alameda County Fair said. "No rider injuries were reported. The fair has ride inspectors on site all day everyday to ensure safety of rides and fair guests."
