Sprouts & Shutters: New Owner, New Look for Gimanelli's Deli

The Italian deli has had a facelift but offers the same menu regulars have come to love

By Autumn Johnson

Gimanelli's Deli in Pleasanton has been revitalized with a fresh look thanks to a new owner.

According Clayn Dirx, the new general manager, owner Dave Polanco purchased the deli in June. Dirx says the deli has the same chef, same recipes and the same menu as before.

Dirx, a local boy who graduated from Foothill High School in 1978, says that besides the fresh new decor, the big change is that restaurant is now open on Sundays.

"Our regulars are usually within walking distance," Dirx said. "We have a strong workforce lunch and our busiest day is Saturday."

The Italian deli offers catering platters in addition to its soups, salads and pastas.

Gimanelli's Deli is located at 915 Main Street in Pleasanton and is open every day of the week from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Click here for the full menu.
