$31,788 Raised for Donlon Elementary Student Who Fell From Third-Story Window

By Autumn Johnson

Donations continue to pour in to help with the medical expenses of a 7-year-old girl who fell from a third-story window. Ruth Carpizo, 7, who attends Donlon Elementary in Pleasanton, fell 35 feet through a screen window onto asphalt on April 30 while she was talking to neighbors outside

$31,788 has been raised so far thanks to the fundraising page set up by Holly Rasay for the Ruth Ruth Carpizo Medical Fund.

On May 14, Ruth Carpizo was moved from ICU to a rehabilitation floor at Oakland Children's Hospital after Ruth Carpizo was successfully taken off of the ventilator on May 9.

Emily Carpizo, Ruth Carpizo's mother, posted via Facebook:

"She's breathing ALL BY HERSELF!!! She has a couple of supplemental oxygen tubes in her nostrils, but she doesn't even really need those. she is now off of life support equipment. She is keeping herself alive. Pray for continue healing in her brain and that she will wake up soon. Halleluja!!! God Is Good!!! Go Team Ruth!!!!"

Emily celebrated her birthday on Mother's Day by reading "Little House on the Big Woods" to her daughter at the hospital, according to a post by Holly Rasay on the Give Forward fundraising page.

A Facebook page started for Ruth has more than 900 likes. Emily posts updates regularly on the Facebook and always ends her posts with the phrase "Go Team Ruth" as her last thought.
