Business Owner Reports Suspicious Behavior to Police, Leading to Arrest of Two

John Corso, 47, of Pleasanton, and 45-year-old Barry Boylen of Hayward were arrested for suspicion of burglary and possession of stolen property, police officials said.

Information from Pleasanton Police—

On Monday, September 2, 2013, at approximately 9:00 pm, a business owner in the 2100 block of Rheem Drive reported suspicious activity to the rear of his business, which borders the Iron Horse Trail near Santa Rita Road. Responding officers located two suspicious males in a nearby parking lot and upon detaining them, discovered several coils of copper wire in the rear seat of their vehicle.

Officers expanded their search, locating additional coils of copper wire stashed behind nearby shrubbery. This led them to a large storage container which had its lock cut off and the wire was identified as belonging to a local business. The suspects were arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail for burglary and possession of stolen property.

They were identified as 47-year-old John Corso of Pleasanton, and 45-year-old Barry Boylen of Hayward. A subsequent search warrant was served at the residence of John Corso where officers discovered additional stolen property.

The capture of these suspects was due to a business owner’s keen observation and immediate reporting of suspicious activity to the police. The Pleasanton Police Department encourages citizens to help reduce crime by immediately reporting suspicious behavior.
