Judge Orders Defendant in Fatal Bike Crash Not to Drive
In his first court appearance, Cody Hall, 18, was ordered not to drive by the court.
Pleasanton resident Cody Hall, 18, appeared in court for the first time on Monday facing two felony charges in connection to the June 9 collision on Foothill Road that killed Diana Hersevoort, 58, of Dublin.
On July 29, when Hall made his first court appearance at the Gale-Schenone Hall of Justice, Judge Hugh Walker ordered that Hall not drive any vehicle during the court process, according to Teresa Drenick of the Alameda County District Attorney's office. Hall did not enter a plea and was ordered to appear in court again on August 14 at 9 a.m. for an arraignment.
According to court documents, Hall has been charged with one count of felony vehicular manslaughter and one count of felony reckless driving.
Hall is believed to have been passing a vehicle on Foothill Road at about 83 miles per hour, when he lost control of his car, striking bicyclists Diana and Joe Hersevoort, according to documents submitted by police to the court.
Hall, who is a recent Foothill High School graduate, surrendered to police on July 26 and was booked into the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin. Hall is currently free on $100,000 bail.

Hall's father, Aaron Hall, a twice convicted felon, is facing his own legal troubles after being arrested for illegally owning several firearms, ammunition and Daytrana patches, all found during the execution of a search warrant at the Hall residence, located in the 4200 block of Echo Court. According to the manufacturer's website, Daytrana prescribed to children ages six to seventeen to treat Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
Aaron Hall surrendered at the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin on July 11. His bail was originally set at $640,000 and was reduced to $265,000, according to court records. Aaron Hall, who is free bond, plead not guilty during his arraignment on July 23. Aaron Hall will be back in court on Aug. 28. at 9 a.m. for a pretrial hearing.
