Police Investigating Threatening Graffiti Found at Pleasanton Middle School

Threatening graffiti was found in a girls' bathroom this afternoon at Pleasanton Middle School, according to an email sent from the Pleasanton Unified School District to parents a short time ago.

Pleasanton Unified School District spokesperson Nicole Steward told Patch, via email:

"Auto-dialers went out to parents at PMS & Hearst.  Pleasanton PD are investigating."

Parents in the district received the following email about the graffiti:

This afternoon (Thursday, 5/30/13) we discovered graffiti in one of the girls' bathrooms at Pleasanton Middle School. Because this graffiti included a threat toward the school, the Pleasanton Police Department is investigating this incident along with school officials. The graffiti has been photographed by students and shared with others so there are rumors circulating. We want to assure all Pleasanton Middle School students and families that appropriate precautions are being taken to ensure a safe and secure campus for all students. We will continue to work with Pleasanton PD on this matter.

If you or your student has any information about the source of this graffiti, please contact the school or the Pleasanton Police Department as soon as possible.

Pleasanton Police Lieutenant Jeff Bretzing says police will be stepping up patrols around the schools.

"We will be providing extra patrol around the school to help ensure school safety and also working with the school district to try to determine who is responsible for the graffiti," Bretzing said.

Patch will update this story as more information becomes available.
