Pleasanton Prepares for BART Strike— Again

In case of a strike, starting on Aug. 5, buses will be available at the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station to take commuters to San Francisco.

Information from the City of Pleasanton--

The City of Pleasanton is working in tandem with BART and the Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority (LAVTA), operator of the Wheels buses, on a contingency plan in the event of a BART strike in the coming days. Labor negotiations continue at BART, but if an agreement has not been reached, there is a possibility that BART service could be stopped as early as Monday, August 5.

Wheels temporary bus stops have been identified in the event of a strike and can be viewed on the attached map. The Police Department’s Motors/Traffic Division will manage the traffic flow and any impacts resulting from the temporary bus stops.

Should there be a strike, BART plans an alternative commute service referred to as the “bus bridge” that would begin on Monday, August 5 using six buses at the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station to take commuters to San Francisco. The buses will park on westbound Owens Drive. Similar bus bridge service will also be available from the following stations: El Cerrito Del Norte, Fremont, West Oakland, and Walnut Creek.

Commuters may park in the BART station parking lots with no fee during a work stoppage, but elevator access is not guaranteed in the parking structures. BART parking lots will be available for Park & Ride for carpooling as a good commute alternative in the event of a strike.
