Driver Involved in Head-On Collision on Foothill Road Arrested for DUI

No one was injured in the collision that occurred during the morning rush hour on Thursday.

A San Ramon man was arrested for suspicion of drunken driving after colliding with a car Thursday morning, police officials said.

According to Pleasanton Police Sergeant Robert Leong, around 7 a.m. yesterday morning, the San Ramon man, whose identity was not released, was driving northbound on Foothill Road near Highland Oaks when he crossed over the double yellow lines.

"The driver's actions caused the driver coming southbound on Foothill to swerve to avoid a collision, while the driver behind that car, also going southbound, was unable to move in time and was hit head-on," Leong said. "There were no injuries from this collision."

Leong says the driver who crossed over the double yellow lines was arrested for suspicion of drunken driving and was booked into the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin.

School officials at Lydiksen Elementary reported that traffic around the area was badly affected by the collision.

A second collision occurred in Pleasanton on Pleasanton Avenue just minutes before this collision.

About 90 minutes after the collisions, the power went out for about 4000 customers in Pleasanton, shutting down several intersections along Hopyard Road, making the morning commute a challenge for many trying to drive through town.
